Xiaomi is known for delivering top quality phones at relatively cheap prices, and the Redmi Go arrives to further accentuate this mission statement. What’s more interesting is that this is the first Android Go smartphone from Xiaomi. Well, it’s now time to hit the ground running.
Xiaomi Redmi Go Quick Review
First and foremost, Redmi Go operates on the Android Oreo Go software, the Lite version of the Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The phone’s system apps are Google Go, YouTube Go and Gmail Go to mention a few. In the hardware zone, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC coordinates core operations. The partnership between Xiaomi and Qualcomm is pretty impressive because most of them are powered by the latter’s chipsets. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 425 SoC teams up with a modest 1GB RAM; not bad for an Android Go device. On the other hand, the internal memory segment bags an 8GB ROM to store the different forms of files. As that can’t be enough, a MicroSD card slot is available to accommodate MicroSD card of about 128GB. Off the memory lane, the figures for photography are 8MP and 5MP. While the 8MP works with f/2.0 aperture at the rear, the 5MP shooter captures selfies with an f/2.2 aperture. Given the 720p resolution of the smartphone’s screen, images of similar resolution are better displayed when captured by the camera. That said, the display sector is represented by the 5.0-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels and 294PPI pixel density. Battery life is very decent thanks to 3,000mAh Li-Ion battery. The fingerprint scanner is the major shortcoming on the device, leaving the user with the conventional security measures.
